Genealogy Indexes

On-going projects in the Boone County Historical Museum Research Center

 

Abstracts Index-contains name, location and the book number in our files. There are over 9,000 names currently with about 100 more abstracts to complete. Online index is added to on the second weekend of the month.

Announcements can be found in a-z binders that contain articles and announcements on Boone County people index includes Name, type of article and page number. Most are indexed we just have a few more to go. Online index is added to on the third weekend of the month.

World War 1914-1919 (aka WWI) Honor Roll of Boone County index cards. These cards are indexed by name and date of birth. Each card holds a wealth of information and a sample card is on the bottom of the index. Many of these cards also have a photo.

Birth-Death-Marriage Certificates and indexes on microfilm in the Research Center can be obtained for genealogy purposes only and will be stamped as such.

Obituaries are constantly being added and our files currently contain over 25,000 obits. We have been working on filling in gaps as well as fixing wrong dates and unknown dates as well as adding names that were missed in the inital indexing. If you are looking for an obit that is not listed please feel free to contact us. It is our hope that this project is complete by years end. We add 200-300 obits to our online index the first weekend of the month
